The Photon And The Dog: DuPage Writers Group Veterans Journal Tuesday September 24

On Tuesday, September 24, 2019 the DuPage Writers Group will be honoring America’s Veterans at the Midwest Shelter For Homeless Veterans in Wheaton, Illinois. Rose Calkins, Carole Neumann, Natalia Toreeva, Carole Ellemeier, and Christine Seagrave will be there to present the center with a copy of our Veterans Journal for 2019 and the profits made from the journal’s sale as a contribution to these people who put their lives on the line for our freedom and security.

Why

I was born in the 1950's. I grew up appreciating nature. From 6 years old until a sophomore in high school I had pet turtles, snakes, hamsters, and others. I fed them. I kept them alive (and I think happy).

I was educated in the sciences. A stalagmite might reach the ceiling. A stalactite holds tight to the ceiling. A piece of metamorphosis was gneiss but we always took it for granite.

My career was in technology. I programmed telephone switches. I was fluent in COBOL, FORTRAN, C++, and various control languages.

I love philosophy, humor, reading, and thinking. I wrote songs like Allan Sherman and Weird Al Yankovic. In school I read to the public at The Upper Room coffee house. Now that I am out of school I read to the public at The Corner House.

I write a variety of science fiction, poetry, flash fiction, and other speculations. If you have any comments on what I write I would be glad to read them.

The whole world works together on many levels and working together is important to strive for. Plus a laugh here and there helps us through.
